The 1st grading period of school has just finished and was a smashing success; despite a few minor bumps, such as quite a few fights and a few students not being completely ethical on campus. Even with those hiccups, the 1st quarter went very well for students. Our Principal Mr. Hart was content with our first nine weeks of the 2018-19 school year. “I’m very delighted that we had 800 students make honor roll and that 400 of them had perfect attendance. We’re showing that attendance matters and overall we’re off to a great start.” Most of our students are actively working on maintaining good grades and getting to school on time every day. This level of activity amongst students is an amazing way to finish off the 9 weeks and an even better way to start off the year. Marketing Teacher Ms. Harmon is extremely delighted that these weeks have passed. “Thank God it’s over, one down three to go.” School is just as big of a work load on teachers as it is on students, especially in the 1st quarter. They need to come up with numerous lesson plans, create tests, and memorize the names of hundreds of students. Teachers are glad that one of the hardest parts of their year is over. Student Brianna Dasilva believes that “the 1st nine weeks went by really fast”. Most students seem to feel that the mid-terms creeped up on them this second quarter. All and all, Alonso High School is off to a great start to this 2018-2019 school year, and we, as students and teachers together, are ready to make this school year the best one yet.
